Laura Slatkin, Founder & CEO In 1994, following a successful Wall Street career at Lehman Brothers, Laura Slatkin joined forces with her husband to found a luxury home fragrance company. On Oprah's list of Favorites!
Legendary for award-winning and original home fragrances, Laura and her husband spent many years working with the world’s most acclaimed perfumers to create a distinctive collection of scented candles, home fragrance, bath, body and hair products that all met the highest standards of performance and scent perfection. The business grew to include licenses and a private label division that represented major beauty brands. In 2005, they sold their home fragrance business to a Fortune 500 retail company, which was the catalyst for Laura to found NEST Fragrances (the Company), a specialized home fragrance manufacturing company focused exclusively on the private label segment of the marketplace. The Company’s client list currently includes more than 50 world-class brands such as Ralph Lauren, Christian Dior, SPACE NK, Restoration Hardware, Estee Lauder, Anthropologie, Laura Mercier, Tory Burch, Urban Outfitters, D. Porthault, Altru, Jonathan Adler, Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Vera Wang – all of whom turned to the Company to develop their own exclusive lines of home fragrance products. In 2008, Laura unveiled NEST Fragrances, her own collection of scented candles and a holiday collection that debuted at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman and fine specialty stores worldwide. An exquisite collection of twelve scented candles, the NEST Fragrances Collection combines color, texture and fragrance to enhance one’s everyday living and entertaining experience. The collection won the 2009 FiFi Award – the Oscars of the fragrance industry – for “Interior Scent Collection of the Year.” Laura and her husband, Harry Slatkin, founded the New York Center for Autism (NYCA), a tripartite organization dedicated to autism education, community outreach and advancing biomedical research. NYCA established the NYCA Charter School, the Hunter College Autism Training Institute, and plans are presently underway to establish an Institute for Brain Development in collaboration with New York Presbyterian Hospital, Columbia University and Weil Cornell Medical College.
